Our Story

The first Methodist church in the Hartsville area began in 1831 by The Rev. James D. Wright.  Since then, Wesley has changed with the decades of development in Hartsville and in the world.  We continue to be a community of faith that thinks and acts progressively, yet, understands the significance of remaining faithful to our beliefs and practices.  We have truly become to be known as the church that make everyone feel welcome.

GIVE TO WESLEY

Why Give?

We support the mission and ministries of Wesley by giving our prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness.
We are a praying church that believes prayer undergirds all of our decisions as well our communal life. A prayer team, open to all who desire to serve in the ministry of prayer, meets every Wednesday morning at 8:00a.m.
We are present when the church gathers to worship, study, fellowship, and play together. Not only are we present physically, but we are present spiritually so that others will want to be present with us. We also believe our presence in the community as representatives of Christ is an important aspect of our life together.

None of the mission and ministries would be possible if we were not a giving congregation. We give of our tithes and offerings out of our own desire to give to God. We believe that giving is an act of worship as well as an expression of our gratitude to God for the blessings that we realize every day. We also give so that we can respond to the needs of others during difficult times in their lives.

We serve because we understand Jesus to be the Divine Servant – giving all of himself to us as our Lord and Savior, and we are called to use our God-given gifts and talents to serve God by helping others and being in leadership in the Church.

We witness to the Way of Jesus Christ as a means of sharing the good news – the Gospel message. We believe our witness is a way of showing others just how much Christ loves them. We also witness as a way of expressing our faith, whether or not we use words!

GIVE TO WESLEY

Make a Difference

Disciples of Jesus Christ make a difference when we are building relationships based upon the Word of God and the Way of Jesus Christ. Our “make a difference” approach at Wesley inspires others to want to be a part of a loving, mission oriented congregation. We believe in using the talents of all ages, recognizing the broad spectrum of energy and wisdom that is a part of the Wesley “signature.” From our mission in the Hartsville Soup Kitchen to our blended worship on Sunday morning to helping eradicate malaria in Sub-Saharan Africa, to the fun and fellowship we have in so many ways, Wesley is making a difference in the Hartsville community, the state of South Carolina, and in the world.

We invite you to join us and share the experience of a lifetime walking the Way of Jesus Christ.

Other than what is defined above, there is nothing else to do except move the website over (which doesn’t take long at all, most likely less than an hour and that is on the high end of time).
