Rev. Fred McDaniel

Welcome to Wesley United Methodist Church! God is so great and good! Our prayer and loving earnest desire is that you and we know and experience the saving love of God in Jesus Christ the Lord, the only Son of God, and our only Savior, in the grace of the Holy Spirit!

Here God gives many opportunities for us to joyfully worship  and serve God, love God, and love our neighbors near and far by many hands-on activities!

My wife Rev. Linda Elkin McDaniel, a native of Natchez, Mississippi, and I, a native of Bishopville who grew up on a cotton farm, are so glad to be here. Raised in Bethlehem U.M. Church, Bishopville, I love being with children, youth, adults, and older adults in their singular interests.

God enriches me in hobbies such as hanging out with family and friends, being in nature, swimming, reading, watching sports, watercolors, and listening to good music of a wide assortment, especially happy classical, and folk rock.

I was schooled in Sunday School, Mrs. Kelly’s home kindergarten, Lee Academy, The University of South Carolina, and Lutheran Seminary. At Carolina as an English major my life was forever enhanced on an senior year exchange at The University of Kent, Canterbury, England. There love for good race relations, and varieties of worship styles (ancient chant to contemporary) were joyously affirmed and enlarged from childhood!

I want to be of any good service here.

It is key to my understanding of my calling from God to ministry that on the way to his cross and resurrection, Jesus prayed to God his Father in John 17:23,

I in them and thou in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that thou hast sent me and hast loved them even as thou hast loved me.
— RSV, John 17:23
